PTAD Disburses N3.9 Billion Arrears to 91,146 Pensioners Under Defined Benefit Scheme

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has successfully disbursed a total of N3.9 billion in arrears to 91,146 eligible pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), the Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, confirmed. This payment is part of the N32,000 increment approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enhance pensioners’ welfare.

According to Odunaiya, the disbursement underscores the Federal Government’s renewed commitment to settling outstanding pension obligations and ensuring timely support for retirees under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She emphasized that improving the welfare of pensioners remains a top priority for the administration.

A detailed breakdown of the payments shows that N1.9 billion was paid to 59,865 pensioners under the Parastatals Pension Department, while N830 million went to 12,976 beneficiaries in the Civil Service Pension Department. Additionally, 9,689 police pensioners received N620 million, and 8,616 pensioners from the Customs, Immigration, and Prisons Pension Department were paid N551 million.

The Executive Secretary reiterated that these payments are just one part of the ongoing efforts to resolve arrears and streamline pension processes nationwide. PTAD has committed to maintaining transparency and accountability while ensuring pensioners receive their entitlements promptly.

With this recent disbursement, the Federal Government continues to strengthen the pension system in Nigeria, providing retirees with financial security and reinforcing public confidence in government-backed social welfare programs.
