The Board of Governors of the PEARL Awards Nigeria has announced that Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma, Chairman of Seplat Energy and former Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will chair the 2025 PEARL Awards Nite. The prestigious event is set to be hold in Lagos on November 30, 2025, and marks the 30th anniversary edition of Nigeria’s only capital market-based performance awards.

According to a statement from the Project Manager of PEARL Awards 2025, Mr. Olisemeka Obi, and quoting the Awards’ President, Mr. Tayo Orekoya, Udoma’s leadership and longstanding contributions to Nigeria’s economic development make him a fitting choice to lead the event. “His exemplary dedication to advancing corporate governance and market growth in Nigeria continues to inspire the business community,” Orekoya noted.

The ceremony will feature prominent figures, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as the distinguished guest of honour and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, as the special guest of honour. Other notable attendees include Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, and Dr. Emomotimi Agama, Director-General of the SEC.

The 2025 PEARL Awards Nite, themed “Celebrating a Legacy of Corporate Excellence,” will honour outstanding publicly quoted companies and individuals demonstrating exceptional performance, transparency, and corporate governance. Awards will be presented across 15 Sectoral Leadership and 10 Market Excellence categories, with the evening’s pinnacle, ‘The PEARL,’ awarded to the most outstanding quoted company of the year.

The 30th anniversary celebrations began on June 24, 2025, with the PEARL Awards Corporate Summit, themed “Built to Last, Roadmap for Corporate Nigeria.” The summit featured regulators, CEOs, investors, and thought leaders sharing insights on sustaining corporate excellence. A commemorative publication, The Winning Strategies of Nigeria’s Corporate Giants, chronicled the stories of leadership, resilience, and innovation that have defined Nigeria’s corporate sector over three decades. The awards night will cap off the celebrations with a glamorous gathering of business leaders, policymakers, and investors, honouring three decades of promoting performance-driven excellence.
