NNPCL Launches Strategic Infrastructure Projects to Boost Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Growth

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has unveiled a major strategic infrastructure development plan aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain. The initiative aligns with the government’s ongoing fiscal reforms designed to attract new investments into the sector and boost the country’s energy security.

According to the Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, NNPCL is set to deploy additional infrastructure while revamping existing downstream assets across the country. These upgrades, he noted, will be accessible to partners interested in storing and transporting petroleum products — a move expected to foster collaboration and efficiency in the downstream market. Ojulari made this known during the opening ceremony of the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week in Lagos on Monday.

Represented by Dr. Mumuni Dagazau, Executive Vice President, Downstream, Ojulari highlighted the theme of the conference, “Energy Sustainability: Beyond Boundaries & Competition,” noting that the future of the industry lies in partnership, innovation, and resilience rather than competition alone. “At NNPC, we are committed to developing infrastructure that supports collaboration across the oil and gas value chain,” he said.

He emphasized that ongoing government reforms — particularly those driven by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) — are creating a more transparent and investor-friendly environment. These changes, combined with fiscal incentives, are paving the way for new opportunities in areas such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and mini-LNG development.

Ojulari urged industry stakeholders at the event to align on innovative strategies that support sustainability, decarbonization, and cross-sector collaboration. The OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week remains the continent’s leading forum for policymakers, international organizations, and industry players seeking to shape the future of Africa’s downstream and midstream energy landscape.
