Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been recognised for his exceptional contributions to digital engagement and media innovation in Nigeria. The acknowledgment came from the organisers of the Bodex Social Media Hangout (BSMH), who officially conferred him as the Grand Patron of the initiative. This honour precedes the sixth edition of the annual event themed “Social Media and AI Influence: Transforming Yourself, Services, and the Society.”
The BSMH team, led by its Convener, Bodex Hungbo, visited Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House to formally present the recognition. During the visit, Hungbo praised the governor for implementing forward-thinking policies that promote media innovation, digital literacy, and youth empowerment. She noted that Sanwo-Olu’s administration has created a supportive environment for responsible social media use and civic participation in governance.
According to Hungbo, “Governor Sanwo-Olu’s digital-forward policies and open citizen engagement have positioned Lagos as a model for digital governance and media inclusion across Africa.” The recognition highlights his administration’s focus on leveraging technology to improve communication between the government and residents, fostering a more transparent and inclusive leadership model.
In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the organisers for acknowledging his government’s efforts toward technological advancement and digital inclusivity. He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining programmes that equip young people with digital skills and promote innovation across sectors. The governor also commended BSMH for promoting responsible media practices and contributing to the state’s digital transformation agenda.
As part of the upcoming BSMH 6.0 activities, Sanwo-Olu will deliver the keynote address during the Grand Finale and receive the “Most Digital Media Friendly Governor of the Year” award. Now in its sixth year, the Bodex Social Media Hangout continues to serve as a vital platform for social media professionals, innovators, and policy leaders to discuss emerging trends in artificial intelligence, technology adoption, and the positive impact of digital media on Nigerian society.
