ICMR to Inaugurate Catherine Nwosu as New President at 14th Annual Conference on November 1

The Institute of Capital Market Registrars (ICMR) has announced plans to officially swear in its President-Elect, Catherine Nwosu, alongside her new executive team during the institute’s 14th Annual Conference scheduled for November 1, 2025. The highly anticipated event will take place in Lagos and marks a new chapter for the professional body that regulates and develops share registration and capital market services in Nigeria.

In a statement issued over the weekend by the outgoing President and Chairman of Council, Mr. Oluseyi Owoturo, the institute revealed that the conference would explore the theme, “Unlocking Global Value: The Evolving Role of Capital Market Registrars in Trust, Efficiency and Innovation.” The theme, according to the statement, reflects the growing importance of registrars in building investor confidence and adapting to technological transformation within the Nigerian and global financial markets.

The event will feature an impressive lineup of speakers and industry thought leaders. Mr. Alake Olakunle, Vice President of Dangote Industries, will deliver the keynote address, while Dr. Toyin Sanni, Founder of Emerging Africa Group, will present a paper on “Strategic Differentiation Through Expertise: Elevating Registrar Services in Cross-Border and Complex Transactions.” Panel discussions will include top executives such as Abiodun Adebimpe of Rand Merchant Bank, Babatunde Majiyagbe of Stanbic Nominees, Fiona Ahieme of FBNQuest, Haruna Jalo-Waziri of CSCS Plc, and Mubo Olasoko of Meristem Nigeria.

Catherine Nwosu, who currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Africa Prudential Plc, will become the fourth President and Chairman of the Council of the ICMR. Her swearing-in will be conducted by Mr. Owoturo, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Coronation Registrars Ltd. The leadership transition signifies continuity in driving professionalism, innovation, and trust in Nigeria’s capital market operations.

The institute also announced that the event would be chaired by Mr. Abdulsamad Rabiu, Founder and Chairman of BUA Group, with the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. Emomotimi Agama, serving as the special guest of honour. The ICMR noted that the conference will serve as a vital platform for industry collaboration, networking, and exploring strategies to enhance efficiency and transparency in Nigeria’s capital market ecosystem.
