Chinese diplomats have intensified bilateral relations with Nigeria through an official visit to the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ). The delegation, led by Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Duanhai Yu and Chinese Consul-General in Lagos Yuqing Yan, underscored the zone’s importance as a hub for trade and industrial cooperation between the two nations.

During the visit, the diplomats highlighted OGFTZ’s achievements in attracting foreign direct investment, creating jobs, and driving technology transfer and industrial growth across Nigeria. The zone has become a strategic platform for promoting economic collaboration and advancing Nigeria’s industrial sector.

Ambassador Yu praised the zone’s contributions to the Nigerian economy, calling it a “symbol of the strong partnership between Nigeria and China.” He noted that the industrial growth and employment opportunities generated by the zone reflect the depth of the bilateral relationship.

The visit also reflected on President Bola Tinubu’s recent diplomatic engagement in China. Ambassador Yu revealed that both Nigerian and Chinese leaders agreed to elevate bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, opening the door for deeper collaboration in agriculture, trade, investment, manufacturing, and infrastructure.

Highlighting China’s continued commitment to Africa, Yu pointed to President Xi Jinping’s zero-tariff policy for all African countries with diplomatic ties to China. He emphasized that this initiative would create further opportunities, attract more Chinese investors, and support Nigeria’s economic development.
