Nigeria is set to host the 2025 edition of the Gas Investment Forum (GIF), a pivotal event aimed at boosting investment in the nation’s gas sector and advancing its economic transformation agenda. Scheduled for October 7–8, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, the third edition of the forum will operate under the theme: “Charting New Opportunities for Investment, Growth & Industrialisation.” The event arrives at a time when the country is intensifying its efforts to exploit its extensive natural gas reserves.

The forum will bring together top leaders from Nigeria’s energy sector and international players. Notable speakers include Olubukola Arowolo Verheijen, the Special Adviser to the President on Energy; Ed Ubong, Coordinating Director of the Decade of Gas Secretariat; NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber; and Akachukwu Nwokedi, President of the Nigeria Gas Association. Their participation signals a strong alignment between public policy and private investment in the gas space.

The 2025 GIF is especially significant as Nigeria advances its “Decade of Gas” initiative. This long-term policy aims to encourage domestic gas usage, support the energy transition, and attract much-needed capital to build midstream and downstream gas infrastructure. The policy is seen as crucial to diversifying the country’s economy and reducing reliance on oil exports.

In addition to Nigerian stakeholders, the forum will feature global leaders such as Andrea Stegher, President of the International Gas Union, and Dr. David Oluseyi Ige, CEO of GasInvest Ltd. Other influential speakers include Dr. Abiodun Ogunjobi, President of Women in Energy Network; and Eyono Fatayi-Williams, CEO of Selai Gas Station Ltd. Their contributions are expected to offer diverse perspectives on financing, gender inclusion, and technology in the gas sector.

According to Osaze Isesele, Event Director, the Gas Investment Forum has become a strategic platform for policy dialogue and deal-making in Nigeria’s gas industry. Officially endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and co-hosted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the forum is designed to bridge the gap between government intent and investor action, promoting sustainable industrialisation through gas development.
