The Fintech Association of Nigeria (FinTechNGR) is set to take its flagship event, the Nigerian Fintech Week, beyond Lagos for the first time in 2025. Under the theme “The Fintech Ecosystem Symphony: Orchestrating Nigeria’s Digital Future,” the event aims to deepen digital inclusion across the country by integrating diverse regions, sectors, and generations into Nigeria’s growing fintech narrative. This expanded reach is a direct response to the need for more localized fintech engagement and broader national participation.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Jameelah Sharrieff-Ayedun, Vice President of FinTechNGR and Chair of the 2025 Planning Committee, emphasized that the event’s format would be inclusive and decentralized. Each participating region will customize its fintech experience based on local needs—ranging from agro-fintech in the North to entertainment-tech in the South—while staying digitally connected to the national agenda. The goal, she explained, is to ensure harmony across sectors, encouraging collaboration across Nigeria’s digital landscape.

The broader vision ties into FinTechNGR’s PIE Agenda—Participation, Innovation, and Expansion—which seeks to democratize access to fintech and fuel national growth. Stanley Jacob, President of FinTechNGR, explained that this year’s Fintech Week will welcome not only professionals from finance and tech but also contributors from other industries like oil and gas, aviation, entertainment, and grassroots communities. Discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including AI in agriculture and digital payments in informal markets.

The event is also geared towards engaging Nigeria’s youth. Seun Folorunsho, Director of Advocacy and Programs, highlighted that lifestyle, gaming, fashion, and entertainment will be part of the conversation. The goal is to attract younger generations, particularly Gen Z, and create platforms for self-expression, creativity, and future planning. This reflects a broader effort to show that fintech is not just about compliance and investment, but also about culture and real-world impact.

Crucially, the event will spotlight the role of grassroots agents—those who kept the informal financial system running during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Sharrieff-Ayedun described these operators as essential to building community trust in digital finance. With over 600 members and a growing network of volunteers and sector-specific communities, FinTechNGR aims to position the 2025 Fintech Week as more than a conference—it’s envisioned as a national movement for digital transformation.
