The Presidential Office of Digital Engagement and Strategy (PODES) has teamed up with Cyberpedia Internet Governance, an African AI, Data, and Cybersecurity firm, to revolutionize civic communication in Nigeria. This partnership aims to strengthen the country’s digital resilience by arming citizens with tools to identify and counter misinformation in real time. The collaboration was announced ahead of Cyberpedia President Abiodun Sowemimo’s keynote at the Cloudfest conference in Frankfurt, Germany.

At the heart of the initiative are two main pillars: mapping public sentiment using AI and grassroots empowerment. The AI-powered tool will gather real-time insights from Nigeria’s diverse population, addressing the complexity of over 400 languages that complicate centralized messaging. Additionally, local influencers, community leaders, and content creators will collaborate to produce engaging content that promotes national values, tackles misinformation, and fosters healthy public discourse.

Otega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to the President, emphasized that the project’s goal is not to control the narrative but to equip Nigerians with the necessary tools to engage in informed discussions. With trust being a crucial factor in the digital age, the initiative seeks to empower citizens by providing transparency and enabling them to participate in conversations on platforms they already use. This approach reflects a commitment to democratic values and digital empowerment.

The partnership will also focus on digital literacy initiatives aimed at helping citizens recognize fake news, deepfakes, and manipulated content. As misinformation becomes a global issue, Nigeria, with its youthful and tech-savvy population, is positioned to lead innovative solutions. The collaboration will be officially introduced at Cloudfest, marking a significant step for Nigeria in shaping the future of digital governance and public trust on the global stage.
