Vice-President Kashim Shettima urged global investors to seize business opportunities in Nigeria during the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Addressing a panel on Africa’s frontier markets, he countered negative perceptions of the continent, comparing its potential to China’s historical rise. Shettima declared that Africa has awakened and is poised to claim its rightful place in global affairs.

Highlighting Nigeria’s economic leadership, Shettima referenced his own banking experience and President Tinubu’s financial expertise, emphasizing that the country is primed for business and modernization. He pointed to ambitious infrastructure projects, such as the coastal highway linking Calabar to Lagos and the West African gas pipeline, as signs of Nigeria’s commitment to economic growth and regional integration.

On the sidelines of the forum, Shettima engaged in diplomatic discussions, meeting with Botswana’s President Duma Boko to explore stronger bilateral relations. He also welcomed World Trade Organisation Director General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, praising her contributions to Africa’s economic advancement.
