Continental Reinsurance, a leading pan-African reinsurance company, has received a B+ financial strength rating and a long-term issuer credit rating of “bbb-” with a stable outlook from AM Best, a globally renowned credit rating agency. AM Best’s evaluations are widely recognized for assessing insurance companies’ financial stability and creditworthiness worldwide.

Despite navigating challenging market conditions in Africa, including economic and political instability, high foreign exchange volatility, and rising catastrophic events, Continental Re has successfully maintained its rating. Group Managing Director Mr. Lawrence Nazare attributed this success to the company’s resilience and efforts to improve capital management and geographic diversification, which AM Best cited as key strengths. The agency also praised the firm’s alignment of growth with available capital and underwriting capabilities.

Founded in 1985, Continental Reinsurance provides life and non-life reinsurance services across more than 50 African countries. The company remains committed to strengthening its operational performance and expanding its footprint while adapting to the continent’s evolving risks and opportunities.
