As part of its 2024 Community Day celebration, Dangote Cement, Ibese, presented N16.2 million in scholarships to 120 indigent students in its host communities in Ogun State. The gesture underscores the company’s commitment to supporting local communities, which it considers key partners in fostering economic development. The event, themed “Celebrating Resilience through Effective Partnership,” highlighted various social investment projects executed by Dangote Cement in 2024.
The company announced the completion of 25 community projects, including health center renovations, provision of solar-powered boreholes, electricity infrastructure, and empowerment programs for youth and women. During the celebration, 55 chest freezers were distributed to vulnerable women, and 30 youths trained in shoe and leather bag making received starter packs. Additional initiatives included farming support and welfare programs for the elderly, showcasing the company’s focus on improving livelihoods despite economic challenges.
Government representatives and traditional rulers commended Dangote Cement for its impactful contributions to community development. While acknowledging the challenge of inflation in delivering all planned projects, Plant Manager Roy Uttam assured the public of the company’s resolve to complete ongoing initiatives next year. Community leaders encouraged Dangote Cement to maintain alignment between its interventions and local needs to ensure sustainable development.
