The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) is set to address consumer complaints against Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), MTN Nigeria, and Air Peace Limited. The investigations, scheduled for December 3rd, 4th, and 5th, aim to examine issues including network failures in banking services, undelivered data services in telecommunications, and exploitative ticket pricing in aviation. These inquiries highlight growing dissatisfaction among consumers regarding service delivery and business practices in critical sectors.
GTB faces scrutiny over recurring network outages, which disrupt customer access to funds and banking applications. Meanwhile, MTN Nigeria must answer for persistent complaints about data service failures, unexplained data depletion, and inadequate customer support. Air Peace is under investigation for allegations of exorbitant ticket prices, particularly for advance bookings on domestic routes, which consumers argue are unjustifiably high.
The inquiries, backed by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) of 2018, showcase the FCCPC’s resolve to protect consumer rights and ensure fair market practices. The Commission emphasizes its commitment to enforcing regulatory compliance while encouraging consumers to report grievances through official channels to foster transparency and accountability.
