UK reveals key trends in work, study, and family visas For 2024

The UK’s immigration statistics for the year ending June 2024 reveal a total of 1.16 million visas issued across work, study, and family categories.

This includes both short-term and long-term visas, extensions, and grants of settlement or citizenship.

The latest data highlights notable shifts in visa patterns and trends over the past year.

Work visas saw a significant 11% decline, with 286,382 visas granted, although this figure remains more than double that of 2019.

The ‘Health and Care Worker’ visa category experienced a dramatic 26% drop, raising concerns about health sector staffing, while Skilled Worker visas saw a slight decrease.

Conversely, the number of Temporary Worker visas issued indicates ongoing demand for seasonal and temporary labor.

In the study visa category, there was a 13% decrease to 432,225 visas, though the long-term trend remains positive.

Family-related visas surged by 40%, with 98,906 granted, and there was a notable increase in settlement and citizenship grants, rising by 17% and 37%, respectively.

These statistics reflect evolving trends in the UK’s immigration landscape.
