Virgin Atlantic has announced the re-launch of its daily flights between Accra, Ghana, and London Heathrow, starting May 1, 2025. This move is in response to the increasing travel demand between Ghana and the UK, which hosts the third-largest Ghanaian diaspora globally.
The new service will be operated using a mix of Airbus A330-300 and A330-900 Neo aircraft, offering a variety of cabin classes and an onboard social space.
Passengers will benefit from seamless connections through London to Virgin Atlantic’s extensive US route network, including major cities such as New York, Boston, Washington DC, Miami, and Los Angeles.
The route is also expected to serve as a vital cargo corridor, with 30 tonnes of capacity per flight for goods like fresh produce between Ghana and key markets in the UK and US.
The airline highlighted that passengers will enjoy complimentary food and drinks, over 300 hours of entertainment, and a fully connected Wi-Fi fleet.
Upper-class passengers will benefit from fully flat beds, access to exclusive lounges, and private security channels at London Heathrow.
Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Commercial Officer, Juha Jarvinen, expressed enthusiasm about the re-launch, citing significant opportunities to connect friends, relatives, and businesses.
He emphasized the airline’s commitment to providing much-needed competition and choice on the Accra to London route, while also highlighting Virgin Atlantic’s award-winning service and recognition as Britain’s only Global Five Star Airline by APEX.
