The Federal Government is embroiled in controversy over allegations of awarding duplicated oil contracts worth millions of dollars.
The contracts, granted to PE Energy Limited and P-Lyne Energy Limited, involve the audit of upstream measurement equipment and advanced cargo tracking in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
However, documents reveal that a similar contract was awarded in 2023 under the Buhari administration to Antaser Nigeria Limited at zero cost to the government, raising concerns of corruption and unnecessary financial burden.
The Citizens Advocacy for Social & Economic Rights (CASER) has condemned the duplicative contracts as a sign of corruption, calling for President Tinubu’s intervention.
Despite the Bureau of Public Procurement’s (BPP) objections, the contracts were pushed through by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), which insists that all approvals were obtained legally.
CASER and other watchdog groups demand transparency and a halt to the duplicated contracts.
