Axxela Limited, in collaboration with NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), has commissioned a 5km natural gas pipeline network in Victoria Island.
This pipeline connects Eko Atlantic City to piped natural gas (PNG) and marks the first phase of a larger 72.5km project extending to Lekki metropolis.
The new pipeline runs from Outer Marina to Kuramo Beach and aims to link areas from Five Cowrie River to the planned Lekki International Airport.
This development is expected to enhance natural gas access and support economic growth in the Greater Lagos Area.
Axxela’s COO, Kehinde Alabi, emphasized the project’s role in providing reliable energy and fostering economic development. NGML’s MD, HRM Justin Ezeala, praised the collaboration’s impact on natural gas infrastructure.
David Frame, MD of Eko Atlantic City, noted the project’s benefits for stable and affordable energy and its positive influence on modern urban living. Eko Atlantic City is also working on a 60MW gas-powered plant, set for future completion.
