Nigeria’s electricity grid collapsed once more on Monday, causing a nationwide blackout. The system failure, which happened at 1:33 pm, marks the seventh time in 2024 that the country has experienced such a blackout.

The previous grid collapse occurred on July 6, 2024.

On Monday, the total power generation from the 22 electricity companies dropped to zero after peaking at 4,067.77MW.

Notable generation companies like Afam IV & V, Azura-Edo IPP, and Egbin Genco all saw their electricity output fall to 0MW.

Electricity production varied significantly before the collapse, with companies like Afam VI, Delta, and Shiroro Hydro generating substantial amounts before the failure.

The grid’s collapse has once again highlighted ongoing issues with Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
