Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced an investigation into complaints from Nigerians in London about an additional $300 fee for expedited passport services at the Nigerian Embassy.

He made the announcement on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, promising prompt action to ensure efficient service delivery.

In response to these allegations, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) denied any additional charges beyond the official fees of $150 for a five-year passport and $230 for a ten-year passport.

Despite the NIS’s denial, evidence shared by Nigerians, including an OIS Services Passport Services Acknowledgement Slip listing a $300 Premium Service Fee, suggests otherwise.

Nairametrics confirmed that Online Integrated Solutions (OIS), which handles passport services for Nigerians abroad, offers an optional expedited service for $300, ensuring passport issuance within 48 hours.

The Minister assured that the investigation into the additional fee would address these discrepancies and uphold global best practices.
