Customs declares N2.74trn H1 revenue, surpasses target by 8%

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) collected N2.74 trillion in the first half of 2024, surpassing its target of N2.54 trillion. This amount is 127% higher than last year’s revenue. In the second quarter alone, NCS collected N1.395 trillion, exceeding the quarterly target by 10%.

Key efforts that helped include an e-auction platform and a 90-day payment window for un-customed vehicles. The e-auction made over N1.34 billion, while the payment window added N4.37 billion. These measures improved transparency and efficiency.

The Nigeria Customs Service also intensified its anti-smuggling operations, making 2,442 seizures worth N25.5 billion in the first half of 2024. This is 203% higher than the first half of 2023. They seized wildlife, vehicles, arms, rice, medicines, and drugs, and arrested 32 suspects.
