Starting July 1, 2024, Nigerian social media creators on Meta platforms like Facebook will earn up to N150,000 for every 10,000 views on their content.

This follows the launch of two new monetization features: In-Stream Ads and Facebook Ads on Reels.

These features will allow creators to monetize their original videos and engage with their community, with support available in over 30 languages globally.

Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Sir Nick Clegg, announced this during a visit to President Bola Tinubu in March, promising new monetization options for Nigerian creators.

Content creators in Nigeria can now earn through various ad formats, including pre-roll, mid-roll, image ads, and ads on reels.

Eligible creators must comply with Meta’s Partner Monetisation Policies and have at least 5,000 followers to participate.

The rollout has been welcomed by Nigerian content creators, who had previously been ineligible for Facebook monetization.

Many celebrated the announcement, expressing renewed interest in creating content.

Meta’s initiative is seen as a significant boost for the creative industry in Nigeria, supporting job creation and economic diversification in the digital age.
