The Nigerian equity market saw another day of gains on Wednesday, with investors pocketing N131 billion boosted by strong performances from Cornerstone Insurance, RT Briscoe Nigeria, and Industrial and Medical Gases, alongside 26 other stocks.
This marks the second consecutive day of bullish trading driven primarily by robust activity in financial stocks.
By the close of trading, the market capitalization of the exchange rose by 0.23% to reach N56.74 trillion, while the All-Share Index climbed to 100,299.48 basis points, reflecting positive sentiment among investors. Of the stocks traded, 29 ended the day in the green, outpacing the 19 losers.
Cornerstone Insurance, RT Briscoe Nigeria, and Industrial and Medical Gases led the gainers’ chart with increases of 9.57%, 9.38%, and 9.34%, respectively.
Meanwhile, University Press, Daar Communications, and Omatek Ventures were among the top losers for the day.
Sector-wise, the Insurance and Banking sectors saw the most significant gains, supported by positive investor sentiment, while the Consumer Goods and Industrial Goods sectors also experienced slight increases. However, the Oil and Gas sector remained subdued amidst the overall positive market performance.
