DSTV Tariff Hike: Court Orders Lawyer To Paste Restraining Order At MultiChoice Office

The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal in Abuja has directed MultiChoice Nigeria Limited to halt its planned increase in DSTV tariff. This order came in response to an application by an Abuja-based lawyer, Festus Onifade, who challenged MultiChoice’s announcement of tariff hikes effective May 1.

Chairman Saratu Shafii issued the interim order, demanding that it be publicly displayed at MultiChoice’s corporate headquarters, branches across Nigeria, known email address, social media handles, and other communication channels. This move ensures broad dissemination of the directive.

The tribunal’s action follows reports that MultiChoice’s Abuja office allegedly refused to accept service of the order and other court documents, prompting a directive for substituted service. The panel instructed that the order be posted at MultiChoice’s offices nationwide, including their Lagos headquarters, and communicated through various channels.
