FG recovers N57 Billion in tax Liabilities from MDAs

At a sensitization workshop on the Federal Government Debt Recovery Drive through Project Lighthouse Programme in Enugu, Mr. Okokon Udo, representing the Federal Ministry of Finance, disclosed that the government has recovered N57 billion out of the N5.2 trillion liabilities owed to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) by various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The recovery efforts were initiated based on data aggregated from over 5,000 debtors across more than 93 MDAs. Mr. Udo emphasized the importance of addressing these tax liabilities to strengthen the government’s financial position and ensure compliance with tax regulations.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness and encourage further cooperation between the government and MDAs to expedite the debt recovery process and enhance revenue generation for national development initiatives.
