Filianingsih Hendarta, deputy governor of Indonesia’s central bank, announced on Wednesday that Chinese firm Ant Group’s Alipay+ has not submitted a formal request for a permit to operate in Indonesia.

Despite reports suggesting the company’s interest, there has been no official communication with Bank Indonesia.

Hendarta clarified that while no formal request has been made, applicants typically have the option to hold pre-consultative meetings with the central bank.

This statement comes after Peng Yang, CEO of Ant Group’s international business group, mentioned that the company was seeking guidance from Bank Indonesia regarding operations in the country.
