AfDB President Unveils $25 Billion Agriculture Investment Plan

Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), is committed to tackling Africa’s food insufficiency challenge head-on. He has developed strategic investment frameworks tailored to address specific food production obstacles across various African countries.

During a recent visit to Lagos to receive the 2024 Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Award, Adesina emphasized the urgency of addressing Africa’s position at the bottom of the value chain, despite its abundant human and natural resources.In an interview on Arise Television, Adesina disclosed plans to invest $25 billion in agriculture over the next decade.

This ambitious investment initiative aims to transform the economic prospects of the continent by boosting agricultural productivity and sustainability, ultimately reducing food insecurity and poverty levels across Africa.
