Anna Bjerde, the Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank, is poised to undertake a pivotal two-day engagement in Nigeria, marking her inaugural trip to the country in her current role.
The visit underscores the World Bank’s heightened commitment to Nigeria’s developmental trajectory and signifies a significant milestone in the partnership between the World Bank and Nigeria. Bjerde’s visit will center on key pillars of Nigeria’s development strategy, including macroeconomic and fiscal policies, energy access, digital infrastructure enhancement, and skill development.
She is expected to articulate the region’s ambitious developmental goals and explore the role of enhanced International Development Association (IDA) resources in propelling Nigeria and similar nations towards robust growth, job creation, and sustainable development.
Accompanying Bjerde on this landmark visit are prominent World Bank figures, including Ousmane Diagana, Vice President for Western and Central Africa; Sérgio Pimenta, Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Africa; and Ethiopis Tafara, Vice President of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.
