The minister conveyed this commitment during a meeting in Rabat, Morocco, where he led a Nigerian delegation to engage with officials, including Ms. Leila Benali, the Moroccan Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, as well as other project stakeholders.

The Federal Government’s efforts to expedite the final investment decision on the $30bn Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline have intensified through discussions with the Moroccan government. The pipeline’s route is anticipated to span across the Republic of Benin, Togo, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania, and culminate in Morocco, with an additional spur extending to Spain.

This strategic initiative aims to enhance regional energy cooperation and bolster economic development across the involved nations. The project signifies a significant milestone in fostering closer ties and advancing energy infrastructure within the West African region and beyond.
