The federal government has repaid N859.7 billion to various state governments to reimburse the costs of building federal roads over eight years.

Following reports that state governments are increasing the cost of repairing federal highways, Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola has ordered states to refrain from such intervention as the federal government will not compensate for the costs. .

The federal government has continued to pay state governments despite orders not to intervene on state highways under their jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, more and more states continue to demand refunds in light of recent revelations. Labor and Housing Minister Babatunde Fashola said the government had stopped all reimbursements to the states, and states working on federal highways were doing so at their own expense.
