Enrollment in the National Identification Number program fell from 8 million in the first four months of 2022 to 4.67 million in the first four months of 2023, a reduction of 41.63 percent annually. This is due to the fact that the overall number of NIN enrollments increased by 22.31 percent from 80.7 million in April 2022 to 98.7 million in April of this year.
The number of NIN registrations increased from 72.7 million on January 1, 2022, to 80.7 million on April 23, 2022, according to fresh statistics from the National Identity Management Commission, which shows that 8 million people registered for NIN in the first four months of 2022. As total enrollment increased from 94.03 million as of December 31, 2022, to 98.7 million as of March 31, 2023, enrollment decreased to 4.67 million in the corresponding period.
In the period under review, diaspora enrollment grew by 168.57 per cent to 409,408 in April 2023 from 152,441 in the corresponding period of 2022. To boost the national identity national database, the Federal Government intends to enroll 100 million individuals in three years. NIMC plans to register an additional 100 million people in three years and has embarked on a massive registration drive. The plan is to enroll 2.5 million people monthly for the next three years.
