A Nationwide Blackout is Imminent as Energy Drops Below 4,000 MW.
Customers across the nation had a limited supply of electricity over the weekend as power generation to the national grid fell below the 4,000 megawatt threshold.
Only 18 of the 25 power plants in the nation supplied electricity to the grid, according to verifications of data provided by the National System Operator, NSO, a separate division of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.
Additional checks revealed that the average generation was 3,518.7MW, down 18.6% from the 4,324.1MW average recorded last Friday.
Azura-Edo IPP experienced the largest decrease of any individual power plant, dropping from 403.18MW last week to 256MW this week. Egbin Power (529MW), Delta Power (502MW), and Kainji were the top grid suppliers.
