According to a recent poll that was performed and released on Tuesday, more than half of British citizens do not want King Charles III’s approaching coronation to be paid for by tax dollars.
According to a YouGov poll, 51% of respondents think the government shouldn’t cover the cost of the event to crown Charles and Camilla on May 6. 32 percent of respondents felt it should, while 18 percent were unsure.
It occurs while decades-high inflation erodes incomes in the UK, which is grappling with a cost-of-living crisis and widespread employee strikes in the public and commercial sectors.
With a ceremony at Westminster Abbey scheduled on Saturday, May 6, the government has not yet said how much it will all cost.
