Mohammed Bello-Koko, the managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, has provided an explanation for why the organization may spend up to $800 million on the renovation of some of the nation’s seaports.
In an interview with Channels Television over the weekend, Bello-Koko claimed that the agency would spend less if it elected not to reconstruct Apapa Port. He did, however, emphasize that other ports needed to be rebuilt.
Bello-Koko noted that the agency’s revenue had climbed to N91 billion from N260 billion and that it had increased its revenue to N361 billion. Notwithstanding the fact that the ports were not about to collapse, Bello-Koko observed that there would be issues if nothing was done in the upcoming years.
