In an effort to prepare for the impending floods that are expected to pound the nation this year, the management of the National Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, and Nigerian Meteorological Services Agency had a meeting.
Participants to the two-day meeting, which is taking place in Abuja, stated that the technical program for specialists would create preparedness and mitigation strategies to deal with climate-related disasters during the 2023 rainy season.
The Federal Government said that 178 Local Government Areas in 32 states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, were at danger of experiencing significant flooding this year.
Ahmed said NiMet and NIHSA had made sure the timely distribution of this year’s climate-related catastrophe preparedness and mitigation strategies during the two-day technical expert meeting.
