Contrary to rumors, Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, declared that he supported the CBN’s decision to redesign the naira and move toward a cashless society.
“PDP called on APC leaders, Tinubu, and APC state governors to immediately release billions of new naira notes that are allegedly in their custody and end the suffering being experienced by Nigerians.
“The PDP has also been made aware of how APC governors are allegedly warehousing the new naira notes in facilities owned by APC interests in Lagos, Kano, Kogi, Kaduna, Imo, and other parts of the country.
According to Ologunagba, Nigerians can remember that In a deal where a large portion of the old notes was allegedly sent to Lagos State for covert swapping with new notes, the APC was recently caught in the act of allegedly exchanging N22.5 billion in old N1000 notes for new ones in Kano State for vote buying.
Therefore, he said, it was cruel of APC leaders to stand by and watch as Nigerians fought for money in bank lobbies and ATM centers, spent the night at ATM stands, and spent millions of dollars.
