The Federal Republic of Germany’s government has pledged to give grants totaling about €82 million to important sectors of the Ghanaian economy in 2019.

Following the conclusion of bilateral negotiations on development cooperation between the two countries, the German government made the commitment last week in Berlin.

The grants are to be used for the advancement of renewable energy, the improvement of the financial sector, the advancement of technical, vocational education and training (TVET), governance, food security, female empowerment, and the support of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME).

Given Ghana’s ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, he added that the grants were timely (IMF).
