Nigeria Petroleum Marketers: The NNPC Petrol Price Without Subsidy Is N400/Litre.

It has been learned that, assuming there is no subsidy, N400/litre is the lowest price at which the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited may sell Premium Motor Spirit, more commonly known as gasoline, to marketers.

They said that PMS import fees were becoming intolerable for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the only importer of the product, and they revealed that the NNPC had been discreetly pressuring depot owners to pay these fees.

Furthermore, it was learned that the Federal Government had covertly permitted depot owners to increase the ex-depot price of gasoline from the previously approved amount of N147/litre to around N185/litre.

Chief Ukadike Chinedu, the National Public Relations Officer of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, who said that NNPC was now having difficulties, to continue subsidising PMS.
The agencies of the Federal Government have decided not to speak on the cost of PMS, amidst the scarcity of the product and attendant queues.
