The president of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), claims that despite the flood that caused traffic gridlock in Lokoja, Kogi State, receding, gasoline is still hard to come by in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); and its surroundings due to the supply gap the blockade created.

Long fuel lines have existed in some filling stations in Abuja since the beginning of October; while the commodity is not being sold in many others.

The shortage was attributed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA); in order to a flood that blocked highways in Lokoja.

However, the lack of the petroleum product has remained in Abuja and its surroundings for days after the floodwaters have subsided. According to the president of IPMAN, the current shortage is caused by a disruption in the supply of the products.
