Musk emphasized that the Terafab project is a necessity rather than a luxury. “We either build the Terafab or we don’t have the chips, and we need the chips, so we build the Terafab,” he told attendees. According to Musk, the Terafab facility will aim to produce chips capable of supporting 100 to 200 gigawatts of computing power annually on Earth. In an ambitious leap, he also mentioned a target of generating a terawatt of computing power in space. While these numbers suggest a revolutionary approach to chip design, Musk did not provide a specific timeline for when the facility would begin operations or start production.
