Google has officially launched its Gemini AI integration for Chrome in India, alongside Canada and New Zealand. The new rollout allows desktop users to access Gemini directly through a sidebar, enabling them to ask questions about web content, compare multiple tabs, and retrieve personalized information from Gmail, Keep, Drive, and YouTube. The move promises a more interactive and efficient browsing experience for millions of users.
As part of the expansion, Gemini now supports a wide range of Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil. This complements English and other previously supported languages, making AI-powered assistance more inclusive and accessible to users across India.
Users who gain access will notice an “Ask Gemini” icon on the tab bar. This feature allows them to ask questions, summarize content, create quizzes, and even reference multiple tabs simultaneously. For example, shoppers comparing products or travelers checking ticket prices can now get contextual answers without switching tabs. Gemini also connects with Gmail, Maps, Calendar, YouTube, and other Google apps to deliver personalized responses.
Gemini’s integration is designed to streamline everyday tasks. Users can compose emails, summarize YouTube videos with timestamps, or schedule meetings directly from the sidebar. By combining AI capabilities with Google’s ecosystem, Gemini helps users manage their digital life more efficiently without leaving their current browsing session.
Beyond text-based assistance, Gemini also incorporates Google’s Nano Banana 2 generative AI tool. Users can transform images for practical purposes—like visualizing how a new piece of furniture would look in their room—directly within Chrome. This integration highlights Google’s focus on merging productivity, creativity, and AI-powered convenience in one seamless experience.
