Chams Holding Company Plc, one of Nigeria’s pioneering technology firms, has officially launched a new subsidiary, ChamsCorp Plc, signaling its entry into the fast-growing artificial intelligence (AI) and data centre infrastructure market. The announcement, revealed in a regulatory filing on Monday, underscores the company’s strategic pivot from its legacy operations in payments and identity solutions to more advanced digital infrastructure.

The newly formed ChamsCorp will focus on digital device manufacturing, data centre design and operations, AI infrastructure, and intelligent systems. This move positions Chams to take a more central role in building the foundational layers of Nigeria’s emerging digital economy, moving beyond transaction processing to owning and enabling the compute and storage systems that will support future digital services.

By entering the AI and data centre sector, Chams is aligning itself with Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital infrastructure market, which is projected to reach $782.82 million by 2031, according to Mordor Intelligence. The company’s strategy reflects a broader trend among Nigerian tech firms seeking to capitalize on the growing demand for enterprise-grade digital infrastructure and intelligent computing solutions.

Leadership at ChamsCorp will be spearheaded by Olufemi Oyenuga, an information management and data analytics expert with extensive experience across healthcare, telecoms, ICT, and manufacturing. His appointment, effective February 1, 2026, is expected to guide ChamsCorp through the early stages of establishing its footprint in AI and digital infrastructure. However, the company has yet to disclose details about its operational strategy or investment scale.

With this new venture, Chams now operates five subsidiaries, including Card Centre Nigeria Limited, Chams Access Limited, Cham Switch Limited, Chams Mobile Limited, and the newly created ChamsCorp. Analysts say the move highlights Chams’ ambition to evolve from a payments-focused company to a key player in AI and data centre development, sectors that are becoming increasingly critical to Nigeria’s digital future.
