The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has reported a remarkable N60.5 trillion in total revenue for 2025, remitting N14.706 trillion in statutory payments to the Federal Government, according to its December 2025 Monthly Report Summary. The figures highlight NNPC’s growing importance as a central pillar in Nigeria’s fiscal and energy framework.
Profit after tax (PAT) reached N5.76 trillion for the year, up from N5.4 trillion in 2024, demonstrating robust operational efficiency and strong market performance. Analysts say this growth reflects NNPC’s ability to navigate market dynamics while maintaining steady financial contributions to the government, reinforcing its role as a key revenue engine for national development.
Natural gas production remained stable throughout 2025, with December output recorded at 6,914 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d). The slight decline from November’s 6,968 mmscf/d was due to planned maintenance at the Stardeep-Agbami and Renaissance-Estuary Area fields, alongside unexpected facility outages. Despite these minor setbacks, the company maintained overall production stability, keeping Nigeria’s energy supply secure.
Beyond revenue, NNPC is advancing major gas infrastructure projects critical to domestic energy growth. The Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline has completed mainline welding, while work continues on Intermediate Pressure and Block Valve Stations. Additionally, the OB3 River Niger Crossing project has begun pilot hole drilling after early works completion. These milestones highlight NNPC’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s gas transmission capacity.
Experts note that NNPC’s strategic combination of strong fiscal contributions and targeted infrastructure development positions the company to sustain, or even surpass, its 2025 performance in 2026. With maintenance cycles ending and key projects progressing, NNPC Ltd is not just a revenue powerhouse but a strategic driver in transforming Nigeria’s energy sector and boosting broader economic growth.
