Google has officially opened applications for the 10th cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa, inviting ambitious Series A startups across the continent to join its AI-focused programme. Applications will be accepted until March 18, 2026, and startups building Africa-focused solutions using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are especially encouraged to apply. The 12-week hybrid programme aims to provide participants with both technical guidance and real-world support to strengthen their businesses.

Selected startups will gain access to Google’s AI expertise, technical resources, and mentorship from seasoned AI professionals. Beyond technical support, the accelerator offers unparalleled networking opportunities with global industry leaders and fellow innovators. Google emphasizes that the programme is designed to help startups scale responsibly while translating cutting-edge AI research into practical solutions that address pressing societal challenges.

Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startup Ecosystem Africa at Google, highlighted the transformative potential of the programme: “Africa’s tech landscape is seeing a vibrant shift toward deep tech innovation. For Class 10, we are focusing on the potential of AI to drive health and societal benefits, providing the infrastructure and expertise to turn these startups into the research labs of the continent.” Since its launch in 2018, the accelerator has supported more than 180 startups across 17 African countries, collectively raising over $350 million and creating 3,700 direct jobs.

The 2026 cohort will particularly focus on sectors where AI can make a broad societal impact, including healthcare, agriculture, climate, and more. This focus reflects the growing interest in harnessing AI to solve some of Africa’s most urgent challenges. Last year, six Nigerian startups were among 15 ventures selected across Africa for cohort 9, tackling issues in fintech, healthtech, logistics, and agritech. These startups ranged from digital health platforms to AI-powered compliance and payments solutions, demonstrating Nigeria’s growing prominence in the continent’s innovation landscape.

By opening applications for Cohort 10, Google is reinforcing its commitment to nurturing Africa’s next generation of tech leaders. With access to global mentorship, advanced AI tools, and a network of industry experts, the programme offers startups the chance to not only scale their businesses but also create meaningful social impact across the continent. Entrepreneurs interested in participating are encouraged to apply before the March 18 deadline to join a community driving Africa’s AI revolution
