UBA Appoints Loknath Mishra as CEO of UK Subsidiary to Strengthen Africa-Global Financial Ties

United Bank for Africa (UBA) has named Loknath Mishra as the new Chief Executive Officer of its United Kingdom subsidiary, UBA UK. The appointment, effective February 2, 2026, reflects the group’s strategy to strengthen its global presence and reinforce its position as a financial bridge between Africa and the world.

UBA UK plays a pivotal role in the bank’s international operations, providing support to African corporates, financial institutions, sovereign entities, and global partners. The subsidiary is particularly known for its capabilities in correspondent banking, trade finance, transaction banking, and treasury services, making it a critical hub for UBA’s cross-border operations.

As CEO, Mishra will focus on positioning UBA UK as a center of excellence in regulatory compliance and customer service. His priorities include enhancing financial resilience through diversified income and liquidity sources, while deepening UBA’s leadership in trade, transaction, and correspondent banking to facilitate business flows between Africa and international markets.

Mishra brings decades of international banking experience, having previously served as Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank UK. He is recognized for his expertise in wholesale and transaction banking, governance, regulatory engagement, and digital innovation in banking services. His leadership has earned him notable accolades, including the Freedom of the City of London.

Commenting on the appointment, UBA Group CEO Oliver Alawuba said, “Loknath brings an exceptional combination of global banking experience, regulatory credibility, and deep expertise in wholesale and transaction banking.
