International Breweries Plc has completed a strong financial comeback, reporting a profit before tax of N85.1 billion for the 2025 financial year, a sharp reversal from the N111.8 billion loss recorded in 2024. The results, published on the Nigerian Exchange, highlight a year of recovery for the brewer following a challenging period marked by currency pressures and rising costs.

The return to profitability was driven largely by robust revenue growth, with full-year sales climbing 26.83 percent to N620.1 billion. Gross profit rose even faster, increasing by 55.65 percent to N204.4 billion, reflecting improved pricing, volume growth, and better cost management despite higher production expenses.

Operational performance also strengthened significantly. Operating profit rebounded to N73.7 billion, compared with an operating loss of N91.07 billion a year earlier. While administrative, marketing, and distribution expenses rose to N128.1 billion, this was more than offset by a steep drop in other expenses, particularly foreign exchange losses, which fell sharply to N2.9 billion from N113.5 billion in 2024.

Finance-related items further supported the turnaround. Finance income increased to N18.08 billion, while finance costs declined to N6.7 billion from N34.7 billion, easing pressure on earnings. Of the total revenue recorded for the year, the fourth quarter contributed N147.5 billion, accounting for nearly 24 percent of full-year sales, signaling a strong finish to the year.

On the balance sheet, total assets edged up to N741.5 billion, with property, plant, and equipment remaining the largest asset base. Shareholders’ equity strengthened to N512.2 billion, while retained losses narrowed to N178.6 billion, pointing to improving financial stability. Although the stock has slipped 3.79 percent month-to-date in February 2026, trading at N13.95, the improved fundamentals may support a more positive investor outlook in the months ahead.
