Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), the private security company responsible for monitoring the Eastern Corridor of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP), has reaffirmed its commitment to aligning its operations with the federal government’s goal of achieving 2.5 million barrels per day (bpd) crude oil production in 2026. The pledge was made by Dr. Akpos Mezeh, General Manager of Community and Stakeholder Relations at PINL, during a stakeholder meeting in Bayelsa State.
Dr. Mezeh emphasized that this commitment forms part of PINL’s strategic priorities for the year. He outlined plans to enhance collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), and other security agencies. The company also aims to mediate conflicts within oil-producing communities to ensure uninterrupted production and a peaceful operating environment.
“As we move into 2026, PINL’s focus will be on supporting the federal government’s 2.5 million bpd target, sustaining zero infractions along the TNP, strengthening partnerships with NNPCL, ONSA, and security agencies, and mediating conflicts in Ogoniland and other host communities,” Mezeh said. He further revealed plans to expand empowerment programs for women and youths, promote community awareness against vandalism, and advocate for improved infrastructure and government presence.
To reinforce security and surveillance, PINL announced that it will conduct capacity-building training for Community-Based Security contractors in early 2026. The training will focus on incident reporting, guard patrol procedures, surveillance, and intelligence gathering. Dr. Mezeh urged community stakeholders to continue dialogue-driven conflict resolution, emphasizing that “what we protect together today determines what Nigeria earns tomorrow.”
Community leaders welcomed the initiatives. HRM Dr. Bubaraye Dakolo, Chairman of Bayelsa State Council of Traditional Rulers, called for government support in making petroleum products affordable for host communities to curb vandalism. Similarly, HRM Dr. Joshua Igbugburu, Ibenanowei of Bomo Kingdom, urged youths and local leaders to continue safeguarding pipelines, highlighting the positive impact of PINL’s engagement in uniting the communities.
