Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre across all MRS filling stations, a move aimed at easing fuel costs for Nigerians and stabilising the downstream petroleum market. The rollout, announced on Sunday, marks a major step in the refinery’s drive to deliver affordable, locally refined fuel at scale.
With more than 2,000 outlets operated by MRS Oil Nigeria Plc across the country, the new price is expected to reach consumers nationwide. The refinery praised marketers that have adopted the pricing and urged others to follow suit, describing the move as a patriotic contribution to Nigeria’s economic recovery.
The development is particularly significant as it comes during the festive season, a period historically marked by fuel scarcity and sharp price increases. Backed by a guaranteed daily supply of about 50 million litres, the refinery’s intervention is reshaping supply dynamics, offering Nigerians price relief at a time when pressure on households and transport operators is usually highest.
By refining petroleum products locally and at scale, the refinery is helping to reduce Nigeria’s exposure to volatile global oil markets, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira, and strengthen national energy security. The sustained price cut and steady availability of petrol are already easing costs for businesses and commuters nationwide.
However, the refinery warned against attempts by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity or inflate prices, calling on regulators to act decisively. Consumers were advised to avoid buying fuel above ₦739 per litre at MRS stations and to report violations, as the company reaffirmed its commitment to steady supply, price moderation, and long-term national interest over short-term market gains.
