Vertiv Acquires PurgeRite in $1 Billion Deal to Boost Data Centre Cooling and AI Infrastructure
Vertiv Holdings Co has announced a major $1 billion acquisition of PurgeRite, a Houston-based leader in mechanical flushing, purging, and filtration services for mission-critical data centres. The deal, which includes an additional $250 million tied to PurgeRite’s 2026 performance, is designed to bolster Vertiv’s position in high-growth thermal management services and next-generation liquid cooling systems for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) operations.
The acquisition positions Vertiv to meet growing demand for clean, air-free, and chemically stable fluid loops in high-density computing facilities. As AI data centres and HPC applications generate higher heat loads, effective fluid management—including high-velocity flushing, purging, and filling with ultra-clean fluid—is critical to maintaining optimal cooling, operational resiliency, and overall system performance.
PurgeRite brings proprietary technologies, engineering expertise, and the capability to scale across complex data centre schedules. By combining Vertiv’s existing liquid cooling services with PurgeRite’s offerings, the company aims to provide end-to-end thermal management solutions from facility to rack, supporting both hyperscalers and Tier 1 colocation providers worldwide.

The deal is expected to enhance system performance, reduce downtime risks, and expand service capabilities on a global scale. Subject to regulatory approvals, the transaction is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking a strategic expansion of Vertiv’s leadership in critical digital infrastructure.
