Google has rolled out a new AI-powered feature designed to make scheduling meetings in Gmail simpler than ever. The tech giant introduced the “Help me schedule” tool, powered by its Gemini AI, which automatically suggests optimal meeting times based on your Google Calendar availability. Users can then share these time slots directly within an email, making one-on-one scheduling faster and more intuitive.
The feature is currently designed for individual meetings, not group or multi-contact appointments. Once a user clicks the “Help me schedule” button below the Gmail compose window, they can view available timeslots, edit or remove options if needed, and insert the selected slots into their email. When the recipient chooses a convenient time, a calendar invite is automatically generated on both participants’ calendars, streamlining what has traditionally been a time-consuming back-and-forth.
Google emphasizes that this new tool leverages Gemini’s AI to analyze the context of your emails when suggesting meeting times. For instance, if an email mentions a 30-minute meeting, the AI will propose only suitable half-hour slots within your calendar for the coming week. This contextual intelligence sets Google’s tool apart from other scheduling assistants like Calendly, Doodle, Zoom, and HubSpot, which primarily rely on pre-set availability rather than understanding email content.
The launch of this feature is part of Google’s broader push to integrate AI across Google Workspace. Recent updates include Gemini-powered enhancements in Google Slides, the Nano Banana image editing model, custom AI assistants called Gems for teams, upgraded AI video tools in Google Vids, and new NotebookLM formats. These updates signal Google’s commitment to embedding AI into everyday productivity tools to save users time and improve workflow efficiency.
In addition to meeting scheduling, Google also announced updates to Google Keep and Google Tasks. Now, reminders set in Google Keep will automatically sync with Google Tasks, further unifying the Workspace ecosystem and making task management more seamless. Together, these updates highlight how AI and automation are increasingly shaping the future of productivity software.
