Dangote Refinery Commends Tinubu, Security Chiefs for Preventing PENGASSAN Strike Disruption
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and key government officials for swiftly preventing what it described as a potentially “disruptive action” by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). The company expressed gratitude for the President’s decisive leadership, which helped avert an industrial crisis that could have destabilized Nigeria’s energy supply chain at a critical moment.
In a statement issued on Monday, the company praised the coordinated efforts of Nigeria’s top security leaders, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, DSS Director-General Adeola Toyin Ajayi, and NIA Director-General Mohammed Mohammed, for their roles in restoring calm. The refinery said these officials worked “tirelessly and determinedly” behind the scenes to safeguard operations and maintain national stability in the energy sector.
Dangote Refinery also thanked Nigerians for their overwhelming support during the tense period, describing it as “humbling and energizing.” The company noted that citizens’ encouragement across social media, news platforms, and communities reinforced its resolve to stand firm against “economic saboteurs and rent-seekers” attempting to derail progress. “You gave us hope and strengthened our belief in the Nigerian spirit as the backbone of our enterprise,” the statement read.
The refinery further appreciated its workforce for their loyalty and resilience, emphasizing that employees kept operations running smoothly despite provocative statements from detractors. The company highlighted that its workers remain the “backbone of the Dangote Group,” pledging continued reward and welfare improvements for their commitment. “Our people are our greatest strength, and we will keep investing in their growth,” it added.
Reaffirming its long-term commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth, the Dangote Group described itself as a model private sector player dedicated to fair employment, industrial harmony, and national progress. The firm also commended the judiciary for its role in upholding justice and protecting the rule of law during the dispute. It assured that the refinery would continue to prioritize transparency, workers’ welfare, and sustainable contributions to Nigeria’s energy independence.
